Cayman Hospice Care Supported by Cable & Wireless Ð Cayman Net News 26th October

Cable & Wireless has pledged its support to Cayman Hospice Care by becoming a Silver Corporate Member of the organization.

ÒCable & Wireless is pleased to support Cayman Hospice Care in its effort to provide care and comfort for the terminally ill. Their effort is vital in ensuring a high quality of life for the patients and in providing peace of mind to their families, said Mr Tim Adam, General Manager of Cable & Wireless.

Mr David Bird, Chairman of Cayman Hospice Care said it was generous donations such as the one from Cable & Wireless that allowed the programme to continue. Cayman Hospice Care is currently attending to the needs of ten patients and their families.

The goal of Cayman Hospice are is to provide specialized home care for terminally ill patients regardless of age, nationality of religion, he said.

Hospice Care includes lending equipment, nurse care, counseling for the patients and for the families of the terminally ill. We are currently looking at the possibility of adding a Day Care Centre for our caner patients. A sum of CI$700,000 is needed annually to ensure this programme continues, he added.

Mr Bird also stressed that community support has been significant, with individuals and companies making donations ranging from $25 to $5,000 and more.

Mr Adam said, We will continue to support programmes such as this one. It not only benefits the community as a whole but it also touches the lives of individuals.

New Phone Book Now Out
Its numbers up: the 1999-2000 Cayman Islands telephone directory has now been replaced by an updated 2000-2001 book. First to receive a copy of Cable and WirelessÓ latest directory was the Governor, Peter Smith, from Annie Bodden, C&W's call center manager. With them are Mr Tony Catalanotto, managing director of Caribbean Publishing Company, Mr Philip Hislop, Head of customer services at C&W, and Mr Marcus Isbell, production and IS director at Caribbean Publishing Co. Telephone customers may pick up copies of the 2000/2001 telephone directory at the Cable & Wireless offices at Anderson Square and Safehaven on Grand Cayman, and at Stake Bay, Cayman Brac. Copes are also available at all local post offices.
