The event - which featured the first live public web cast in the Cayman Islands, gave residents a chance to see what the Internet has to offer in the Cayman Islands. Held at the Westin Casuarina Resort on Grand Cayman and at the District Administration Building car park on Cayman Brac, Jump & Click included the web cast - which featured a performance by the soca band Square One, interviews with West Indies cricket players Franklyn Rose and Sherwin Campbell, and live pictures from the St. Lucia Jazz Festival - as well as Internet demonstrations, free giveaways and the chance to sign up for Internet service. Those who did not attend the event, still have the chance to visit the Jump & Click web site at www.jumpandclick.caribsurf.com to download the Square One performance. Along with the Cayman Islands, islands across the Caribbean were also "Jumping and Clicking" with Cable & Wireless including Antigua, Anguilla, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Attendees in the Cayman Islands were not only entertained, but also had access to a wide range of information, from how to get started to how to explore the coolest websites and shop on-line from the comfort of home. Among the demonstrations was information on education, e-commerce and lifestyles, and resource persons were available to answer questions. The event was held to promote Cable & Wireless's new Internet price packages announced on May 1st. As part of the new packages, Cayman Internet customers receive double the number of hours in the previous package plans for the same price as before starting June 1st. Additionally, the newly introduced Net Pro package gives high volume users 50 on-line hours for $50. Over 130 customers signed up for Internet service at Jump & Click, which offered new customers signing up two weeks free Internet access, as well as the chance to win one year's free Internet service. New customers who signed up also had their $35 installation fee waived - an offer that is to continue throughout the month of June. The winners of the raffle were Mark McIntire on Grand Cayman and Tammy DaCosta on Cayman Brac. Cable & Wireless Cayman General Manager Tim Adam said: "We were very happy with the success of the event, and pleased that more of Cayman's residents took advantage of this great opportunity to get Internet access through the new packages. Internet promotions will continue during the month of June and we hope more people will get on-line. Cable & Wireless has enabled the Cayman Islands to achieve leadership in the per-household penetration of the Internet, and we aim to help our country maintain that leadership. Our goal is to make Internet service more accessible to the people of these Islands, and with the new packages and promotions currently available - more people will be able to sign up."
